Reiki

What is it?
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal (Rei) Life Energy (Ki). It is an ancient form of hands on healing. Japanese Master Dr. Mikao Usui, who studied ancient Tibetan healing arts as well as researched the healing powers of Buddha and Christ, rediscovered Reiki. It is gentle, non-invasive and helpful to calm the nervous system.

 

How does it Work?
Healing touch such as Reiki is a non-medical approach with the goal to stimulate the body’s innate ability for self-healing. Our emotions and mental outlook on life can be responsible for disturbing the natural flow of life energy (chi or ki). The warmth and crucially the positioning of the practitioners hands over or on pertinent areas of the body assist in bringing about a more relaxed and peaceful state of mind. It is not uncommon to fall asleep during a treatment.

 

How can it Help You?
Reiki can be helpful to deal with stress, personal problems and illness in a very gentle yet profound way. Applied healing touch inducing feelings of well-being and inner peace which in turn can facilitate the patient’s capacity for self-healing. It is one of the safest and gentlest types of treatments you can have in early pregnancy and can be helpful to keep you relaxed throughout pregnancy right up until the moment you give birth. Touch therapies such as Reiki can play a crucial role in reducing stress hormones during conception, pregnancy and whilst preparing for birth.
